This weeks music videos to download are 2 of my favourites from At The Drive-In. The songs are Invalid Litter Department and One Armed Scissor which were both taken from the excellent Relationship Of Command album from 2000.
One Armed Scissor was the first single from their album Relationship of Command, and was the first At the Drive-In song to be played regularly on a number of radio stations. This is the most popular At The Drive-In song. The video for this song contains all footage from live shows and the road in general.
The interpretation of this song is that it tells a brief story about crew members on a damaged space station (or spacecraft of some sort) and the ship's life support is running out. In the final moments of the narrator's life, he writes a letter to his loved ones as he freezes to death. Perhaps the story is a metaphor for their excesses while touring.

Lyrics
The Invalid Litter Department video features a very disturbing and powerful story about The Juarez Murders which involves more than 450 young women who have been found dead in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico since 1993. Another 400 are still missing. Most of the victims were between the ages of 17 and 22, come from poverty, and work at the "Maquiladoras" (foreign-owned factories).
Most of the factories are U.S. owned, such as RCA, Emerson, 3M, DuPont, GM, and Maxwell. The establishment of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994 provides incentive for U.S. companies to use Mexican labour. About seventy percent of the workers are female. The women working in these factories make roughly three dollars per day.
