Another day, another manager at my beloved Newcastle United as the likeable but seemingly incapable Glenn Roeder was pushed from his perch yesterday. Well, it almost seems that way as the next man appointed will be the 6th man in 10 years in the Newcastle hotseat. When you consider Bobby Robson lasted 5 of those years in charge that represents an alarming revolving door type situation at St. James Park.
For me you have to look a bit higher up in the club with regards for who is to blame for the mess we are in. Fat Freddy(Chairman Freddy Shepherd) has made a series of crap decisions in bringing in new managers over the years hopefully he will finally get it right with the next manager. The only time he did make a good choice, in appointing Bobby Robson, his treatment of a man who deserved better was disgraceful. I won't go into that here but check out Bobby Robsons autobiography if you were not aware. It's just a shame that Fat Freddy did'nt resign at the same time as Glenn Roeder although that would be very unlikely due to the fact that he is the largest shareholder and he owns around a third of the club. In the last couple of years there have been a number of interested parties/consortiums who have shown an interest in taking over at Newcastle and Fat Freddy has managed to keep them at bay but surely he will realise that it is time for a change at very top. If Newcastle are to prosper than Fat Freddy must go. Now.
On a somewhat related subject I would like to wish Sir Bobby Robson all the best in his latest battle with cancer BBC SPORT - Robson fighting new cancer battle. He has beaten cancer 4 times in the last fifteen years but this time he has been told that it is inoperable and he is about to start a six week course of chemotherapy. At the grand old age of 74 his prospects do not look good. I'm sure that I speak for the whole of England when I say good luck Bobby and we are all rooting for you.
*SIGH*
